The lamp that was, is and will be
The lamp was my grandmothers, she used to have a pink fabric hanging down. The lamp is now mine and I experimented with old newspapers which turned out interestingly but not completely satisfactory… The lamp will be redone, as soon as I have a clear idea of what and how to do it.. Inspiration will probably come from: http://www.anahagopian.com/ Since her stuff is crazily beautiful!

Paper clip couple
We are in the process of moving. First we decided it was time to get back to civilization and for us meaning Stockholm and my one room apartment. This was a bit to small for us and it is a dark flat. And now we are moving to a larger apartment which I believe will be close to perfect, for us!  While packing up my stuff I found the cute paper clip couple I made years ago:

The Mask
Here in Sweden is basically impossible to sleep during the summer, it is kind of bright all night long. It is the opposite in the winter but that is a completely different matter and should not be thought of during summer. Anyhow, the brightness makes it impossible to sleep without the best blinds in the world that lets in ZERO light or with a sleeping mask. And here it comes, The sleeping mask!  ...

Scrappy crappy art no.1
From somewhere I got inspiration to do art, or just go crazy with stuff I had at home. I will now present my first of my scrappy crappy art projects. This is made totally out of recycled material: previously used toilet paper… (ok, just kidding toilet paper is something I am not planning on reusing) But the frame is painted old cardboard box.. Explaining my art: This is a toilet paper...

Old News - boxes
The need to do some crafty things and having and old lightbulb box…  Led to first cutting the box in half: And then covering the two halves in news paper, with a lot of glue: And the deed was done, now they might need a bit more work to be more interesting but they are pretty nice as they are. Well, if you are into to chabby type of recycling style.. I personally like if I can see...

Pop Up Card
I had a bunch of colorful papers and a friends birthday party today… These turned up to a pop up card: To be honest, my time ran up before the birthday party and I did the card afterwards, nobody is perfect… It might seem a bit weird that I did it AFTER the party.. But that is kind of me. When I get an idea or see something I want to try, I HAVE TO… And by all likelihood...

SCD/GAPS Yogurt
Lately I haven’t been updating much but theres been many changes in my life and here comes the first one: 1. I started a diet SCD or GAPS. This is a quite strict one which has to become a lifestyle. You might wonder why would anyone ever do such a diet, well health reasons of course… Lately I have been feeling crappy and I want to feel fabulous being able to do amazing stuff! Anyhow...

Beautiful Norway
A few days of vacation. We ended up in Norway and the photo is taken before 7am and the temperature was 5 deg celsius… Cold and tired… But quite happy anyway.

Pillow with filling out of scraps
This is what I had: A super cute owl fabric and a lot of scraps. It all started with me looking at the scraps going something like “really, you have saved these small pieces of fabrics which are not going to ever be useful for anything” and then I realized they CAN be useful for filling the inside of a pillow, specially the fleece fabrics. It turned out well, it’s going to...

Skirt patched with flowers
I still had fabric left on the crazily floral dress which I used to make the skirt some weeks ago. I also had a skirt I did ages ago but was too long and a bit dull.   First of all I needed to make it shorter, the fabric is not really suitable for a long skirt. Then flower it up.. Added a border and used a red-pink-ish tread. And voilá, done. It’s a lot more fun and with time I might...

Up-buttoning a lamp
After upbuttoning my bag some weeks ago I started to upbutton a lamp. A tip is to not use the glue gun too close to the cat. I wanted to use only one type of buttons: white made from shells (I beileve the are made from shells anyhow). And this got me this far: I feels a bit unfinished and I am considering to glue on other white buttons to fill the space completely but I need a bit of...

Crazily floral skirt
This is what I started with, a very flattering floral dress.. Which I of course never used, ok once but it was a fancydress party… I wanted to try to remake a skirt I tried on my vacation in Tenerife earlier this spring. With a front where two flaps are sown from the backside to the front, giving the skirt a natural good shape. In the back the waist is attached to an elastic band. ...

Bag for exercise clothes
After a weekend in Stockholm with PhD party, meeting my new nephew and hanging out with my dear friend I am back in the small town. Todays crafting was for the kid that needed a bag for his exercise clothes for school. I made a simple design out of an old pillow case and some leftover blue fabric. This should do the trick. He might have said from the start that he didn’t like white and blue...

Up-buttoned bag
Starting with this bag made out of jeans fabric years ago. I used it quite much in my teens.. Doesn’t look like anything I would wear or anyone I can think of. But still I like it and the fabric starts to be worn down at the edges which gives it a nice look. What I started with first was to assemble a new band. Then, up-buttoning time… The ones on the right was not allowed on the...

Improvements
Been making small improvements on a mens shirt my boyfriend never used due to the pink stitching, sometimes the details just doesn’t work. I usually find that they destroyed many garments in the shops with the details. But on the same topic “pink for men” during my time in Korea I saw a custom made car that had a very clear statement “man is pink”, I always found...

"old news" box
Lately I’ve got into using old newspapers as material for upcycled stuff. There is the magazine bowl I showed in the last post and now I am experimenting on making a box out of it. The box itself turned out nicely but the lid needs a bit of improving, I want them to have straight edges and now they are a bit too chunky (don’t know if that explains what I mean sometimes the...

Magazine bowl
I’ve seen the beautiful bowls of folded recycled paper on the net a couple of times and always felt like I should try to do one. The one below has the description here. This felt like a good project to take on as I had a good glossy magazine to use. Just showing a few images while making it, for a better description use the one I link to above. For sealing the bowl I used a adhesive...

Tin cans
For long I have been thinking about what to do out of tin cans. It feels like such a waste to trow them away. And as soon as I threw a bunch of them away I started to search the internet of what to do with them (might seem like the wrong way around)… And I found a few suggestions of what to do out of them. I specially like the lanterns, the ones below I found in a blog called oulalie. No...

Bin
As I was searching for a metal cutting tool I found another project I started a few months ago with blue plastic. I had quite a lot of this blue plastic which is normally used at construction sites for shielding against dust. I cut some of it into stripes and braided into a basket.  For long I wasn’t really sure of what to use it for (this might make you wonder why I started to make it...

Spring!
The past days has been lovely here in Sweden. The temperature has been high enough to be outdoors without wearing a jacket. Spring starts to be here! And for the first time in many years I’ve had the time to notice the signs of the seasons and I must admit that I am a bit ashamed that I haven’t taken the time to spend more time in nature. What is life if only rushing through it...

Finishing touches on a knitted cardigan
Years ago (time flies) I started to knit on a cardigan from yarn my mother colored (with flees I believe) when she was my age.  However, there are still some left to do, the collar has a bit of a too rugged edge. Today I got the idea to make a simple plait and sew on it. Lets see how it will go. PS. I was writing in an earlier post that I was going to limit my projects to five and finish...

Success-story
Lately I haven’t had the speed I am used to have. I have always considered myself to be an effective person. But if I am to be honest with myself it is not true all the times. And maybe luckily so, since if only to rush forward there is no time for reflection and thus the direction can be in completely the wrong direction. But I am not used with this way of living, up to quite recently I...

Been away to the big city (stockholm) for a job interview for a job related to my science degree, indeed an interesting position which was however not completely suitable for what I am aiming for right now (which was…?). Back today in the forrest and heating the sauna for the evening. The latest project is making a simple game for smartphones with my boyfriend, which is totally in...

Game making
Some time ago we started to make a game for smart phones and tablets and for this we needed images. I have used OpenClipArt gallery, where there are a lot of images that can be used without any restrictions. I think it is amazing. I have uploaded some of the images I have been working on just to give back to someone who hopefully finds them useful.  I like the idea of sharing. And I truly believe...

Post vacation
Been away on a vacation to the island Tenerife (Spain) and now finally start to feel relaxed. It’s a beautiful volcanic island worth the travel and which I would like to visit again. For the moment it is winter and the temperature was a bit to cold for swimming but none the less it was a good place to be.

Thank you cards
I needed to do some thank you cards to send and I wanted them to feel personal so I have been putting it of since I didn’t have any good idea… but how I LOVE internet… This morning I found a tutorial for paper flowers which I used to make as decoration for the cards and after this (it took some hours naturally) the thank you cards were done. The tutorial can be found here!

Dealing with the mess.
I recently defended my thesis and am now doctor in Chemisty, awesome! I worked hard for this in many years. Totally I have been doing university studies for 10 years with first doing my master and then continuing with my PhD (time flies). And now I am FINISHED. And even though I have been longing for this day the past years I have to admit that I am not completely in tune with NOT having a...

Lately
I haven’t been writing on this blog for a very long time. Been busy with x-mas, new years, a temporary teaching job and finalizing my PhD thesis. Now I have something like 2 weeks left of this hectic time in my life and after this I will have some time to just unwind.    I teach natural science at high school level. For my teaching job and also for my own sake, I started to look into what...
